Why Go Green

Every organic cotton tee you purchase prevents 4 oz. of concentrated, hazardous chemicals from polluting our earth.

If 1000 people each owned one organic shirt they would save 744,000 gallons of water and eliminate 168 pounds of chemical fertilizer and 1.14 pounds of toxic pesticides. Imagine what a difference we, as parents, could make if we began teaching our children about being environmentally friendly at an early age.

Conventional cotton is sprayed with harmful pesticides, fungicides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers. It takes an enormous toll on the earth's air, water, and soil, and significantly affects the health of people living in cotton growing areas.

On the other hand organic cotton is not sprayed with any harmful chemicals. This helps save our environment as a whole. Organic methods of agriculture are exponentially better for our bodies, our homes, our planet and most importantly for future generations.

By Going Green we can prevent water pollution, pesticide poisoning of nationally distributed crops, and the killing of million of birds and fish, from pesticides, each year.

From a health perspective the only way to go is green. Regular cotton has invisible irritants, pesticides and chemical dyes but, organic cotton is made naturally and chemical free. It can be worn by anyone with chemical sensitivities, unable to wear conventional cotton because they have allergic reactions to the dyes and the chemical traces it contains.

An organic shirt might cost a little more than a coventionally produced shirt but they are comfortable, durable and better made. They are made with the highest quality cotton and manufactured to the highest standard. In the end its worth it.

As you can see there are endless benefits for going green and wearing eco fashions, but the constant is always the same. We must spread the word and take our destinies into our own hands. This will be the only way that we can ensure the future for ourselves as well as future generations of eco-friendly fashionistas.

The Difference Between Organic and Conventional Cotton
Conventional Organic
SEED PREPARATION
Typically treats seeds with FUNGICIDES and INSECTICIDES Uses UNTREATED seeds
Uses GMO seeds for almost 70% of US-grown cotton NEVER USES GMO (genetically modified organism) seeds
Applies SYNTHETIC fertilizers Builds strong soil through CROP ROTATION
Loss of soil due to predominantly MONO-CROP culture Retains water more efficiently thanks to increased ORGANIC MATTER in the soil
Requires INTENSIVE IRRIGATION
WEED CONTROL
Applies HERBICIDES to soil to inhibit weed germination PHYSICAL removal rather than chemical destruction
Repeatedly uses HERBICIDES to kill weeds that do grow Controls weeds through cultivation and HAND HOEING
Uses INSECTICIDES, accounting for about 25% of WORLD consumption Maintains a BALANCE of "Pests" through healthy soil
Uses PESTICIDES (the most common are highly TOXIC and five are probable CARCINOGENS) Uses BENEFICIAL INSECTS, biological and cultural practices to control "Pests"
Uses AERIAL SPRAYING that can drift onto farm workers, neighboring wildlife and communities May use TRAP CROP, planted to lure insects away from the cotton
HARVESTING
Defoliates with TOXIC CHEMICALS Relies on seasonal FREEZE for defoliation
